Health & Water Quality Testing

Our Health & Water Quality Testing service provides a comprehensive analysis of your private well water to evaluate its safety, quality, and potential impact on your family's health, plumbing system, and landscaping. Water samples are collected using proper sampling procedures and analyzed by a certified laboratory to identify bacteria, contaminants, and important water chemistry characteristics.

This package is an excellent choice for homeowners, homebuyers, and anyone wanting a more complete understanding of their drinking water.

What's Included

White Cap Bottle – Water Chemistry

This sample is analyzed for:

  • Alkalinity – Measures the water's buffering capacity and helps evaluate its tendency to cause corrosion or scale buildup.
  • Conductivity – Indicates the amount of dissolved minerals in the water and can help determine its suitability for irrigation and plant watering.
  • Sulfate – Elevated levels may cause a salty taste, unpleasant odor, or laxative effects.
  • Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) – Predicts whether the water is likely to be corrosive to plumbing or produce mineral scale.
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) – Measures the concentration of dissolved minerals that may affect taste, appearance, and overall water quality.
  • pH – Determines the acidity or alkalinity of the water, which can influence corrosion, plumbing performance, and water quality.
Yellow Cap Bottle – Nutrient Testing
  • Nitrate + Nitrite – Detects contamination that may originate from fertilizers, septic systems, livestock operations, or other environmental sources. Elevated levels can pose health risks, especially for infants and young children.
Red Cap Bottle – Minerals & Water Quality

This sample is analyzed for:

  • Sodium Absorption Ratio (SAR) – Evaluates whether the water is suitable for irrigation and different soil types.
  • Hardness – Measures calcium and magnesium levels. Hard water can lead to mineral buildup in pipes, fixtures, appliances, and water heaters.
  • Calcium – Contributes to water hardness and scale formation.
  • Magnesium – Also contributes to hardness and scaling potential.
  • Iron – High levels can stain plumbing fixtures and laundry, discolor water, and promote iron bacteria growth.
  • Potassium – An important mineral that may require monitoring for individuals following medically restricted diets.
Bacteria Sample (Sterile Bottle)
  • Total Coliform – A general indicator of the sanitary quality of your water supply. The presence of Total Coliform bacteria may indicate a pathway for contamination into the well or water system.

This test provides presence or absence results rather than a bacteria count. If Total Coliform bacteria are detected, the well or water system should be disinfected and retested before the water is used for drinking or cooking.

Certified Laboratory Analysis

All samples are analyzed by a certified laboratory using approved testing methods. You'll receive a detailed report explaining each result, along with reference values and recommendations when applicable.
